Full-Day Production Session at Villaggio Globale

Gen 15, 2019

After the sewing and coloring production stages, 50 Shades of Green has finally set foot at Villaggio Globale. Last Saturday, thanks to the help of a few burner friends – Julissa, Matilde and Robert – we managed to prepare all the shades for the next step, which will be performed also at Villaggio next week: the hanging structure for the installation.

While next weekend we will be dealing with stainless steel wires, and the installation will finally “take off”, being pulled up in all its beauty for the first time, the past weekend has been mostly dedicated to the preparation of the shades for “the hanging”.

Basically, we had to unfold all the shades, put rings on the top border, and fold the shades back again. Ideally, the installation will be held up by three metal wires going across the tunnel, but we will figure out only next week if three wires will be enough, or if we actually need four. This is why, just to be prepared, we placed 5 rings per shade – a total of 250 rings.

It looks like something easy, but it actually required an entire day of operations, and a few hammer hits on my thumb, to get it all done. Here are a few pictures of the production session, that started by covering the entire working area with plastic, to keep the shades clean. Thank you again Julissa, Matilde and Robert (who’s not pictured, as he needed to leave before we started taking pictures) – you rock!
