BREATHE is a post-pandemic invitation to breathe, relax, be one with nature, self and others, re-center and heal. The trees on the islet breathe light, with different colors and speed. I participated with a light pulsing post-it installation where visitors where asked to focus on one of the many words written on post-its, and perform some meditation techniques. About the project:

Al Naturale was a collective exhibition of art focusing on environmental issues, hosted in a beautiful villa of the XIX century, built on top of a roman hill, in the middle of a natural reserve park. For the exhibition I created a site-specific art installation using post-it notes and city smog, that I scraped from the walls of buildings in Rome.

The installation was conceptually meant to be an apology to nature for the way human society pollutes, destroy and kills natural environments, specially in big cities, with all their smog. It represented a schematized tree with dying leaves, and a votive column where participants could have prayed for humanity's faults towards nature.

About the project:

An art installation for the subterranean galleries of the Prenestino Fortress (Forte Prenestino) in Rome, with live creation of the work during a weekend.

Forte Prenestino is a very active occupied autonomous space in Rome, dedicated to the arts. I participated to the weekend "Arte al Forte", where I created a live installation using post-it notes and very toxic oxide pigments, unfortunately not very well documented.

A personal exhibition part of a summer-long collective art initiative at the open air cinema (arena, in Italian) Arena Esedra, which I've also curated and organized.

Artists (me included), opened the exhibition with a collective show lasting a week; then, every week, we had a new opening for each of the artists participating to the initiative, who were then occupying the entire exhibition space for a personal exhibition of their works.

Apparenti Trasparenze was my first public exhibition of artwork produced with post-it notes, that I exhibited as featured works, while filling the exhibition space also with other non-post-it art works. For more info on the rest of post-it production, see the dedicated post-it art section.

About the project:

My first ever solo personal art exhibition at Café Cicero, a cultural association and café in the historic center of Oviedo (Asturias, Spain) with a regular art exhibition program.

I was in Spain for the Erasmus university exchange program, and I was so lucky to have found an appartment that had direct access to a huge attic space straight from my room, and that I immediately transformed in a studio.

I have produced tons of artwork during my stay, and I was lucky to have found an opportunity to showcase the works before leaving Spain also because, in the impossibility of taking the work with me back to Italy, I got rid of all the artwork the night before leaving, with a performance where I burned all the works. I just saved a couple of them (Fluido Plastico, Los Toreros Muertos), that I'm still proud to treasure in my own personal collection.

I've loved being part of the project designed by my good burner friend Arlo Leibowitcz for Nowhere 2019 and co-created by a project crew of a dozen volunteers. I supported Arlo with the project since the design and pre-production steps, then took charge of the entire logistics in the Monegros, worked a lot with the cañas, and ended up proposing the final on-the-fly radical design change when already building on the playa. THE ZONE

BURNING MAN

THE ZONE is a site-specific land art installation created in the woods around Florence, Tuscany, in June 2018. The installation is composed of 15 rolls of a soft organic red cotton string. Each roll measures around 70 mts, and all rolls have been tied together to form one continuous red string, long more than 1 Km. Read more and see a photo album on Facebook.

Land art installation for the XIV edition of the Land Art Campi Flegrei festival. Following the theme of the land art festival, the installation is a denounce for the degradation and abandonment of the close-by Temple of Apollo, and plays a conceptual twist around a popular Italian tongue twister. Site-specific land art installation in the trenches of the Spanish Civil War in the Monegros, where George Orwell fought. The installation is a tribute to George Orwell in the 80th anniversary of the Spanish civil war, and it's part of the Orwell Monegros Project. A 180 volunteers crew spent months building the Temple, so my contribution for communication, fundraising and 2 weeks of construction work in the desert doesn't seem a lot. BAMBOO BIOCONSTRUCTION BILBAO

COLLECTIVE

A collaborative project where I learned a lot from master bioconstruction builders, the same people who build bamboo structures at the Boom Festival in Portugal. In two weeks of work, tahe team of 15 people went through all the steps: planning, bamboo processing, building pre-constructed modules, and finally installing the artwork in the Botanical Gardens of Bilbao, Spain. The installation was meant to mirror an imaginary constellation that would have synched with the silver rocks during the festival, catching all participants into a dream state field. People didn't really get it, and renamed the artwork as "alien detection and monitoring station" or more simply "alien rocks". See a project photo gallery on Flickr.

The 3 "fear trees" I planted with the scope of collecting people's fears (on post-it leaves) to be burn and released in the wind worked fine on the conceptual side, but the scale of the installation was far from being appropriate for the vast spaces of Black Rock City. LET IT ALL GO

A site-specific art installation for the Belgian Burning Man gathering Brussels Decompression. After installing the post-it notes in a way that formed the words "let it all go", I've invited the participants to the event to write down those things they really want/need to led go and, as for my first BM project "Beyond fears", I burned the artwork at the end of the event, in a ceremony that was meant to "let go" of everything written on the post.it notes.
