I’m very proud to introduce my latest studio mix, SEPTEMBER. The name is not only due to the fact that I’m releasing this in September (duh), but mostly because all the tracks I mix are fresh from being released this month (September 2021), the majority of them just last weekend, while the “oldest” track is from “way back” on September 2. After all the chill, house and eclectic stuff I’ve released over the last year, mostly for fun and to kick covid depression out of the door, with this studio mix I’m finally back to the true Burningmax sound. Here is the first of the DJ sets I played this year at Nowhere 2009. Not the first I played this year in the Monegros desert, but probably the one where I had more fun playing. Enjoy the very funky and uplifting 2hrs sunset session (8-10PM) I played at the new amazing Belgian barrio KosmoZoo. I kicked the DJ set off with a very funky deep house tune I really love, then jumped immediately into Chicago house, mostly exploring the production of UK-based house label Soul Revolution, that I have recently discovered on BandCamp. At around half set I moved to UK garage and bass music, I dropped some afro-jamaican-brazilian percussions, and I finally closed the set with a bit of progressive deep house tunes. The final part of the set has been epic, a desert classic. A night dust storm was approaching, while the sunset painted the sky in reds and blacks, and the first drops of rain started coming down. Meanwhile, the KosmoZoo crew was protecting speakers and electronics from rain and securing tarps from the wind, I was playing a remixed version of Nathan Fake’s “The Sky was Pink”, and everybody kept dancing until the end of the set. My DJ set for the Burning Man event of Roman Burners in November 2016, an experiment I decided to make because after all, this is what Burning Man is about… I normally play techno and other electronica, from acid house to psychedelic beats, but I’ve never played drum’n’bass before, though I’ve been dancing to a lot of progressive D’n’B back in the ’90s. So I decided to finally drop the bass with the drum, while swinging back and forth from techno during the burn, with a session I like to call “techno’n’drum’burn”. Enjoy the bipolar beats! More Amphora DJ sets from Burning Man 2013. This time I had the pleasure and the honor of “opening” for one of my favorite DJ posse on the Playa, Space Cowboys. At their “classic” Wednesday party at the Trash Fence Space Cowboy asked for the collaboration of all the top art cars on the playa – including Amphora of course. More than a dozen sound systems blasting the same music being broadcasted live from Unimog, the mighty sound system art car of the San Francisco DJ collective – and I provided the opening DJ set for the entire trip of Amphora till the party location, making sure to pump it up enough so to get the crowd ready for the all-night party mood.
